Kids do haircuts to benefit cancer patients-by making human hair weave
March 13, Midwestern University’s Glendale Campus will raise money for the March of Dimes and obtain donated hair to benefit cancer patients via the 18th annual Cuts for Kids program.
The campus will be open 4 to 7 p.m. to the community for haircuts from professional stylists to benefit children with special health and social needs. The event will be held in a fun carnival-style atmosphere, complete with live music, inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, fresh popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. Community booths with healthy living information and screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, height and weight, and more will also be available. Additionally, a fundraising raffle will be held concurrently with the carnival.
Attendees who donate eight or more inches of hair can donate their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths - an initiative that collects human hair to create real-human hair wigs for women fighting cancer. Hair meant for wig donation must be clean and dry; must be free of dyes, chemicals, and bleaches; must contain no more than 5 percent gray; and may be shipped or delivered to Midwestern University previously cut and stored in a ponytail.
For those who have less than eight inches of hair to donate, monetary donations are welcomed onsite. These donations, raffle proceeds, and all other monies collected from Cuts for Kids benefit the March of Dimes’ March for Babies program. March for Babies is a walking event which supports community programs and research that encourage healthy pregnancies and newborns.
